‘Mary’s Nest’ is the place to stay near San Diego

My very first Airbnb stay was in Escondido, a town in the hills about 25 minutes north of San Diego. Escondido recently appeared on a list of ‘Best Places to Live in California’ so I decided to check it out. The countryside is beautiful, as is Mary’s home. I’m not convinced that it would be the right place for me to live, however.

Mary's nest, Escondido CA
The view across the canyon to other hills is spectacular.
succulents in a pot
I especially liked how this pot of succulents almost resembles bonsai.
Statue of mother and child escondido CA
Two sides of Escondido: a homeless man and a statue of a mother and child side by side on a bench in the heart of old town Escondido.
escondido city hall
Escondido City Hall is at the edge of revitalization efforts near the old main street of the city. By its architectural style I would guess it was built back in the 1980s.
