Why Wandering Lady?

Because I decided at 70-something to give up my apartment in Pasadena and take to the highways and by-ways of America. The only destination I had firmly in mind was to spend some time in Tucson. Beyond that I intended to make it up as I went along–wandering around the country.

This blog is going to be a kind of report about sights I see, events–unusual ones I hope–that I attend, travelers tips and short reviews of books I read as I slowly travel across the country.

Snow capped mountains and palm trees seen from the top of the Metro Station in Pasadena. I took this photo the week I began my journey.

A confession: This adventure had a test run. After my belongings went into storage I spent 10 days in So. Cal. and Arizona AirBnB-ing it from place to place, then went back to L.A. and regrouped. One travel tip already: AirBnB may not be the best choice for a budget traveler. More about this later.

I hope you will become a fellow traveler on my journey and sign up to follow me along the way.
